Position Overview

The Sustainability Engineer will deliver environmental oversight and support services to meet the operational goals of the organization. The management and support services may encompass, but are not limited to, environmental compliance assurance, stormwater oversight, wastewater oversight, air quality oversight, storage tank oversight, environmental compliance management systems, safety and occupational health initiatives, cultural resource oversight, natural resource stewardship, integrated waste management, recycling initiatives, green procurement strategies, hazardous materials and waste oversight, environmental planning, education, training and outreach, management support for installations, and environmental restoration efforts.

Job Classification: Full Time

Compensation:

Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.

  • $75-$90,000/per year.
  • Exempt

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and implements environmental programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors pollution prevention initiatives, compliance, and auditing activities.
  • Conducts assessments and prepares environmental impact statements for new construction projects, operational processes, and permit modifications.
  • Reviews and evaluates environmental documentation issued by federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Assesses impact on organizational operations and publishes compliance strategies and requirements.
  • Analyzes proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental implications. Engages with federal, state, and local regulators to resolve compliance matters; establishes permit requirements and assists in regulatory audits.
  • Represents the organization in government and industry rulemaking processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in Environmental Compliance Assurance/Management Systems, Stormwater Oversight, Wastewater Oversight, Air Quality Oversight, Storage Tank Oversight, Safety and Occupational Health Initiatives, Cultural Resource Oversight, Natural Resource Stewardship, Integrated Waste Management, Recycling Initiatives, Green Procurement, Hazardous Materials/Waste Oversight, Environmental Planning, Education, Training and Outreach, Management Support for Installations, Comprehensive Asset Management, and Environmental Restoration.
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check for government security clearance.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to monitor changes in federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering or Management from an accredited institution.
  • Required: At least two (2) years of relevant experience in Environmental Engineering or Management.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional fieldwork (monitoring/surveying) may be required.
  • This position operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
