Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Scientist to join our team at the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. As a Forensic Scientist, you will be responsible for performing forensic biology examinations, including DNA analysis, to aid in the investigation and prosecution of crimes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct DNA analysis on biological evidence to identify and compare genetic material
  • Develop and implement new methods and techniques for DNA analysis
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide expert testimony and analysis
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed records of all analyses and results
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in forensic science and technology
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, forensic science, or related field
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a forensic laboratory setting
  • Successful completion of a training program in forensic DNA analysis
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
