ABOUT YOU:
We are in search of a motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Senior Accounting Specialist to become a vital part of our expanding Groundwork Coffee family. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Retail, and the executive team, while reporting directly to the Financial Controller.
The Senior Accounting Specialist role is highly structured and requires exceptional time management and organizational skills. Strong analytical abilities are essential for success in this position.
As a Senior Accounting Specialist, you will engage in diverse aspects of the coffee industry, from sourcing and production to retail and wholesale operations. If you have a passion for coffee (or tea), maintain a positive outlook, and are enthusiastic about your profession, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
COMPENSATION:
$66,560+ based on experience annually
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Payroll processing
- Verify accuracy of employee payroll data, including hours, tips, and sick/PTO accruals
- Provide financial reports (labor, sales, deductions, etc.) to relevant departments
- Conduct bank account reconciliations
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
- Handle customer payment processing (checks, ACH, credit card)
- Administer monthly sales commission payments
- Review customer chargebacks for validity and file disputes as necessary
- Ensure accurate reporting of sales in the correct accounting period
- Assist with the month-end closing process
- Process and record payments to health insurance providers
- Manage employee 401k contributions
- Support external audit/review processes
- Record month-end/year-end accrual journal entries
- Prepare quarterly sales and use tax returns
- Assist with various financial reporting and accounting tasks as required
- Conduct billing and manage a high volume of collection calls
- Prepare financial reports as needed
- Process daily cash and check deposits
- Organize and file a significant volume of paperwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Exceptional work ethic and integrity
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records
- Familiarity with POS systems (e.g., Revel)
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Knowledge of B2B online ordering systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Capability to manage payroll responsibilities effectively
- Accountability for specific performance metrics
- Commitment to the company's values and vision
- Willingness to work evening and weekend shifts as necessary
- Proficient in computer applications
- Experience with Paycom is a plus
