CIRI is seeking a dedicated ESL Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of migrants and refugees. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in helping our students achieve language proficiency and integrate into American society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver engaging ESL instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, with a focus on serving the Cuban and Haitian communities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create inclusive and interactive lesson plans that cater to individual learning styles and literacy levels.
  • Evaluate student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Establish a supportive classroom environment that fosters collaboration, participation, and confidence among students.
  • Work closely with case managers and program staff to understand student needs and provide resources for their learning and integration experience.
  • Incorporate cultural orientation and life skills training into the curriculum, including job searching, healthcare navigation, and community resource access.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, student progress, and outcomes for program reporting purposes.
  • Support additional language development opportunities, such as conversation practice, tutoring, and community events.
  • Stay current on best practices in ESL education and participate in professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with migrant populations and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by Cuban and Haitian migrants.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and online learning platforms to support in-person and remote instruction.
  • Strong communication skills and adaptability to diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • A background in adult education, ESL instruction, or a related field is preferred.
