OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The full-time Early Childhood Education Practicum Coordinator is responsible for overseeing activities associated with the practicum and capstone components of the educational program.
This role involves direct support for students through supervision of their practicum and capstone experiences, as well as indirect support for part-time and full-time faculty members.
The coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that students enrolled in early childhood and elementary education programs acquire the essential knowledge and skills required to succeed as competent education professionals.
Field-based observations are conducted by the practicum supervisor, who also provides targeted instruction, coaching, constructive feedback, evaluations, and resources to both individuals and small groups during their practicum experiences at designated sites.
The primary aim of practicum supervision is to facilitate students in the immediate application and thoughtful reflection of their learning within a practical educational environment.
Additionally, the Practicum Coordinator is tasked with organizing placements and fostering positive, professional relationships with community and educational institutions. This role involves collaboration with local early childhood programs to ensure effective partnerships with site supervisors and mentors.
Coordination responsibilities may also encompass the training and support of site supervisors and mentor educators to promote uniformity across various practicum environments.
