Inspired Solutions is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Madigan Army Medical Center's Medical/Surgical Unit. The position involves gathering patient history and medical information, administering treatments and medications, overseeing data interpretation, and advocating for patients. It includes assessing patients, developing care plans, communicating with healthcare professionals, administering medications, and documenting care. The role also entails performing diverse patient care tasks, managing complex procedures, and overseeing bank procedures. Additionally, the position requires attending meetings, maintaining positive relationships, responding to emergencies, and contributing to multidisciplinary care conferences. All responsibilities are carried out in accordance with established guidelines. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather patient history, family medical information, and advanced directives. Record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments; administer medication and treatments; oversee data interpretation by LVNs and unlicensed personnel; advocate for patients
- Assess patients, develop care plans, instruct patients and families, communicate with charge nurses and physicians, verify orders, administer medications, and manage nursing care plans. Ensure accurate documentation of care and progress.
- Perform diverse patient care tasks: range of motion exercises, hygiene, lifting, turning, feeding, and more
- Manage complex procedures with high infection risk and life support equipment involvement
- Oversee tissue/skin bank and blood bank procedures. Provide professional guidance to LPNs and unlicensed staff
- Collaborate on care plans with healthcare team. Respond to breaches of standard procedures and participate in consultative research projects
- Attend patient care meetings, conferences, and discharge planning sessions. Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Respond effectively in emergencies and initiate life-saving measures
- Assess and address potential crises, administer emergency drugs, operate defibrillators and other equipment
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care conferences and discharge planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with this PWS
- Work Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts/week. Variable schedule. (Monday – Sunday and holidays includes shift work such as evening, nights and/or days. A thirty (30) minute lunch break and two fifteen (15) minute breaks; (1) during the first 6 hours of the shift and (1) the last 6 hours of the end of the shift will be permissible.)
- Current, full, active, and unrestrictive license to practice as a Registered Nurse is required
- 1+ year experience working in the Medical & Surgical Unit as a Registered Nurse in the last 3 years required
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Nursing required from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated state accrediting agency
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association required
- Current BLS issued by the American Red Cross required
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Red Cross required
