AIX Administrator

About the Role:

Maximus is seeking an experienced AIX Administrator to join our team in support of a federal client's mission-critical systems. As a key member of our team, you will provide expertise in all aspects of AIX operating system areas.

Responsibilities:

• Install and configure AIX operating systems and servers to ensure smooth operation of various software applications.
• Plan, install, test, and implement upgrades and patches to AIX OS to maintain its performance and security.
• Maintain technical documentation of AIX hardware and software, including user and operator manuals.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managing AIX security and operations.
• Plan and implement performance improvement initiatives for the AIX system environment.
• Analyze software and hardware environments to identify and resolve system issues in a timely manner.
• Manage data backups and retrieval techniques to ensure business continuity.
• Ensure regular performance maintenance routines are carried out to guarantee continuous system availability.
• Assess system architecture and provide recommendations as needed.
• Work with managers and architects to develop disaster recovery procedures for business continuity.
• Provide operational metrics to support continuous improvement and Service Level Agreements/Service Level Objectives (SLAs/SLOs).

Requirements:

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in architecting, configuring, patching, and upgrading Middleware Enterprise platforms.
• At least 3 years of experience in administering IIS, .NET, WebSphere, Node JS, Apache Tomcat, and cloud native instances, Active MQ, and IBM MQ Series.
• Possession of an Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship.
• Willingness to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
• Ability to reside within a commutable distance and be available to work onsite at the customer's discretion.

Preferred Skills:

• Deep understanding of technologies related to infrastructure engineering.
• In-depth technical solution knowledge, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and problem-solving.
• Experience in IBM Intel-based, IBM Power 8; Power System E880C.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, Perl, or Python for automating complex manual tasks.
• Familiarity with Linux-based and Windows-based OS.

Salary:

$60,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience.
