Job Title: Information Technology Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Counsel to join our team at Express Employment Professionals. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in supporting our Information Technology Division by negotiating complex technology transactions, including cloud services agreements, infrastructure platform licensing, outsourcing, e-commerce, data center and systems consulting contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Support Canon's Information Technology Division by negotiating complex technology transactions, including cloud services agreements, infrastructure platform licensing, outsourcing, e-commerce, data center and systems consulting contracts.
  • Review and research AI/Gen AI issues to provide expert advice to our business units.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on legal issues to all levels of IT business unit personnel, up to and including senior executives.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with legal, information security and privacy professionals across the company.
  • Counsel Canon's business units on contract negotiation objectives and strategies; provide legal guidance to resolve disputes with third parties.
  • Provide legal advice to and handle various inquiries from company divisions, subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • Handle various other general commercial contracts, such as services and consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements and event/trade show contracts.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor degree is required and the candidate must be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
  • The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience handling technology and general commercial transactions.
  • In-house experience is preferred, but law firm experience will be considered.
  • Candidates should have a solid background in drafting and negotiating technology contracts (including cloud, SaaS and hosted services agreements) and related inbound technology contracts.
  • Some outbound technology contract experience required; data privacy, AI/Gen AI and open source licensing experience preferred.
  • Must be well organized and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Cannon is seeking a motivated attorney with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong team orientation.
  • The candidate must have practical working knowledge of how a legal department interacts with sales and other departments.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and use Microsoft Office without the need for substantial administration support.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday and Wednesday with an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.
