Position Overview

The Senior Financial Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation of financial reports for the organization, adhering to established protocols while engaging in various accounting-related tasks. This position involves meticulous record-keeping, filing, and data entry in compliance with internal control policies. The individual will assist the financial controller in managing and directing programs to ensure the delivery of precise and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain comprehensive accounting systems, applying accounting principles and statistical analysis to uphold daily and monthly records.
2. Ensure the security and confidentiality of financial data and information.
3. Organize and execute the posting of transactions and journal entries, while assessing existing procedures for recording assets, liabilities, and financial transactions.
4. Implement revised or new bookkeeping and accounting procedures as necessary.
5. Review posted entries for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
6. Prepare operational reports and financial statements, including current and comparative analyses.
7. Ensure monthly balance sheets and accounts are reconciled and adequately supported.
8. Submit administrative summaries to senior management as required.
9. Identify variances and communicate issues related to departmental operations and financial reporting to appropriate leaders.
10. Collaborate with finance team members to maintain accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.

Qualifications

Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in the healthcare sector or 5 years with a non-related Bachelor's Degree.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations including Medicare and Managed Care.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Capacity to maintain an appropriate work pace.
- Effective communication skills.

Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
- Experience in Acute Care Hospital Finance.

Compensation:
Minimum - $87,200 | Maximum - $130,800
