Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement immunization programs to protect employees from infectious diseases.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and documentation of employee injuries, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Infection Control to address general infection control issues and provide education on risk reduction and prevention.
  • Provide statistical data to the Texas Department of Health in a timely manner.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with occupational health nursing experience desired.
  • Current license from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certified HIV/AIDS Counselor/Educator desired.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing practice and specialized education in occupational injuries and immunology.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing employee health records and prepare statistical reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
Working Conditions

This position requires close interaction with employees of all departments within the hospital, as well as medical staff and volunteers. The work environment is well-lighted, heated, and ventilated, but exposure to blood-borne pathogens is a high risk.
