Job Responsibilities:
Conduct research, develop, document, qualify, and implement production processes to support the manufacturing of high-reliability assemblies for space, commercial, and military applications.
Engage actively in the design of complex assemblies and establish stable manufacturing processes during prototype and development phases, releasing documented procedures to production.
Review, develop, and update statistical process control methods and related documentation, adhering to established policies.
Key Duties:
Mentor and coach junior Process Engineers and technicians.
Assist in leading the team in the absence of management.
Oversee process technology transfers from Process Engineering to Manufacturing.
Provide operator training and validate competency for required tasks.
Develop robust production processes utilizing Design of Experiments (DOEs).
Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new and existing products.
Establish validation and verification criteria for new processes and products.
Create and revise documentation detailing production processes.
Lead engineering support to facilitate production processes.
Actively troubleshoot assembly area issues, focusing on root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes.
Stay informed on best practices and technologies, providing input on new processes to enhance capabilities.
Collaborate with the Design Engineering team regarding process capabilities and materials, ensuring compliance with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) criteria.
Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform or assist with operations as needed to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality standards.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
Follow clean room and environmental precautions as required.
Participate in various meetings and workgroups to integrate cross-functional activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments and policies.
Comply with all quality and ITAR policies, practices, and procedures.Engage in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company objectives.
Contribute to fostering a positive team spirit.
Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
Protect confidential information and maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10-15 years of combined education and experience.
Significant experience in manufacturing.
Familiarity with MIL, IPC, and J-STD workmanship, qualification, and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (Mil-PRF-38534/5, IPC-610, J-STD-001, AS9100, etc.).
Experience with CAD and SolidWorks software.Knowledge of 5S, SPC, and lean manufacturing practices.
Skills:
Understanding of parallel seam welding processes in hermetic device manufacturing.
Knowledge of environmental screening requirements for microelectronic assemblies.
Experience with wire bonding and die attach of hybrid products.
Proficient in generating and modifying technical documents using CAD and Excel (PCB software is a plus).
Ability to design tools/fixtures with minimal guidance.
Experience in SMT process development for both leaded and lead-free assemblies.
Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative team player who enjoys working across disciplines.
