Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of DISH's Advanced Operations team, the RAN Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining the resilience and operational excellence of the DISH Wireless network. This role involves troubleshooting wireless communication systems for data, voice, and video services, working closely with Engineering and vendor teams. Key duties include:
- Addressing escalated issues from the ORAN Tier I team, resolving them effectively, and escalating to the ORAN Tier III team for urgent matters when necessary.
- Participating in Sev 1 & Sev 2 outage management and providing on-call support as a technical expert on a rotational basis.
- Conducting health checks on RU/DU/CU nodes, analyzing user/system-level traces, monitoring performance, troubleshooting faults, and performing basic parameter audits and adjustments.
- Engaging in root cause analysis (RCA) efforts and preparing detailed reports for outages and critical incidents in collaboration with engineering and other teams.
- Coordinating with vendors to escalate critical or time-sensitive issues that require their immediate attention and resolution.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in RAN, preferably with recent Open RAN exposure.
Skills and Expertise:
- Comprehensive understanding of vRAN/ORAN architecture within a virtualized environment, as defined by 3GPP standards (Release 15 & 16).
- Proficient knowledge of LTE, VoLTE, and 5G VoNR L2/L3 call flows, with the ability to interpret and analyze traces (PCAP, GNB traces).
- Familiarity with AWS and VMware PaaS environments is beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of conveying clear updates to senior leadership regarding status, issues, and challenges.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and goal-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to independently tackle complex tasks.
The salary range for this position is $110,100.00 to $180,900.00 per year.
