Pediatric ER Nurse Specialist for Compassionate Care

Job Summary:

A skilled Pediatric ER Nurse is required to provide specialized care to children facing acute illnesses or injuries in our dedicated pediatric emergency department. The ideal candidate will quickly assess patient conditions, prioritize care based on severity, and implement life-saving interventions with our board-certified pediatric emergency room physicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and child life specialist.

About the Role:

This role demands strong clinical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to family-centered service. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with the pediatric acute care team to coordinate transition of care for admitted patients. You will also maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies while providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides family-centered care
  • Quickly assesses patients to identify their needs
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Works closely with our board-certified pediatric emergency room physicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and child life specialist to provide excellent care
  • Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients and their families, offering emotional support and reassurance
  • Maintains hospital and unit specific competencies
  • Collaborate with the pediatric acute care team to coordinate transition of care for an admitted patient

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of pediatric emergency experience preferred. Additionally, the following courses must be completed within 6 months of hire:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
