About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Assistance Program Counselor to join our team at Community Services, Inc. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will play a vital role in providing individual and group counseling, education, and consultation services to adolescents and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for students and families in a school-based setting.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, as well as education and consultation services to promote healthy behaviors and prevent substance abuse.
  • Collaborate with school staff, community professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for students and families.
  • Develop and implement educational programs and activities to promote substance use prevention and mental health awareness.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in staff development and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a closely related field (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC).
  • New York State license required, CASAC preferred.
  • Minimum one year of post-master's professional level work experience in mental health or substance abuse counseling.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, behavior, and pathology, as well as treatment approaches for adolescents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, clients, and community partners.
