Position Overview

We are looking for a Junior Civil/Structural Engineer with a foundational understanding of design engineering, specifically within a utility or consulting environment. The ideal candidate should possess a solid educational background in the design of various structural elements, including steel and concrete structures, as well as geotechnical engineering and foundational work.

Experience in designing substation structures, rigid bus systems, foundations, site development, oil spill containment systems, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls will be advantageous. This role will focus on the direct design of the aforementioned civil and structural components, contributing to the creation of bid and construction packages for substation initiatives.

The selected candidate will engage in design calculations and produce construction-grade engineering drawings regularly, under the guidance of a licensed civil engineer. Site visits to client facilities will be part of the responsibilities, along with occasional travel for client engagements and industry events. Adherence to quality control measures and safe work practices is essential, ensuring compliance with project scope, timelines, and budgetary expectations. This role is part of a collaborative design team consisting of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering
  • EIT certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Mathcad software
  • Familiarity with STAAD.Pro, FAD, SAFE, SAG10, and LPile software is preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and Civil 3D software is a plus
  • Strong analytical abilities and technical writing skills
  • A collaborative team player with effective communication skills for interacting with clients and colleagues

Compensation Information

The pay range for this position is between $48,000 and $86,950.00. This range serves as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation. Various factors will be considered in determining the final offer, including job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
