Position Overview:

The Sales Consultant will be responsible for promoting, selling, and enhancing GFL USA's solid waste management solutions to commercial and industrial clients within a designated area. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and developing competitive strategies to secure market share.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engage with both current and potential clients to expand the customer base.
  • Foster strong client relationships by visiting customers within the assigned territory to evaluate and address their needs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of prospective clients for lead generation through various outreach methods.
  • Explore new and existing market segments to boost sales and enhance market presence.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of branch and regional financial metrics, including pricing strategies and service costs.
  • Develop expertise in solid waste service offerings, including pricing structures and equipment applications.
  • Provide accurate pricing estimates and credit terms to prospective clients while preparing sales agreements.
  • Exhibit proficiency in customer needs assessments and retention strategies, focusing on industrial compaction solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations to major accounts, showcasing product features and benefits.
  • Stay informed about competitor activities and market trends.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for price adjustments for underperforming accounts.
  • Conduct waste stream evaluations to identify recycling opportunities and special handling requirements.
  • Participate in industry-related meetings, conferences, and community events to enhance company visibility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with large clients, including public sector entities, and assist in bid preparation.
  • Support the identification and integration of potential acquisition targets.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in the solid waste sector is preferred.
  • Two to three years of sales experience with a strong grasp of sales methodologies.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for analyzing and interpreting business documents and regulations.
  • Proficient in report writing and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating discounts, commissions, and other financial metrics.
  • Capability to devise and implement solutions for customer-specific challenges.
  • Ability to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see at various distances and adjust focus.
  • Regularly lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Role involves significant travel, leading to exposure to traffic and extended periods of sitting.
