Supervising Attorney

Harvis, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Staff Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for supervising the daily operations and staff of the Civil Legal Representation project.

The Supervising Staff Attorney will effectively manage the legal representation of program participants in child custody, child support, spousal support, housing, public benefits, divorce, victims' compensation, immigration law, and other related matters. You will also be responsible for ensuring that attorneys operate under the attorney-client privilege and providing consultation to Legal Advocates and other DVSC staff.

• Supervise and coordinate the legal representation of program participants
• Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the Civil Legal Representation project
• Provide consultation to Legal Advocates and other DVSC staff
• Ensure policy development and program evaluation planning and implementation for the Civil Legal Representation Project
• Assist in the relations with Domestic Relations Service and the Department of Public Welfare - TANF program
• Litigate in precedent-setting cases at the trial level and on appeal
• Assist in the hiring of new staff and provide effective supervision and development to program staff

• Law degree from an accredited law school and license to practice law in Pennsylvania
• At least one year of litigation and family law practice in a public interest law firm or similar setting preferred
• Knowledge of laws applicable to domestic violence, stalking, and dating violence
• Ability to draft appropriate pleadings and write in a legally precise and understandable fashion
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, FBI Criminal Background Check
• A valid PA Driver's license, access to a motor vehicle, and adequate auto insurance
