Summary:

The incumbent in this position is a senior clinician responsible for planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure effective patient care.

The Speech Language Pathologist II will provide direct evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals, and making discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals, and making discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice.
  2. Provide direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan, and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  3. Report on patient progress through appropriate written documentation, including evaluation forms, progress notes, and education forms.
  4. Collaborate with physicians, patients, family, and other members of the healthcare team relative to patient treatment and progress, as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
  5. Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
  6. Supervise rehabilitation aides, mentor, and instruct Speech Language Pathology interns and other students as indicated.
  7. Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  8. Attend and participate in departmental meetings, in-services, rounds, and peer reviews.
  9. Participate in program development as assigned by Team Leader.
  10. Participate in continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning for continued professional competency.
Requirements:

At least 3 years previous Speech Language Pathology experience required. Pediatric out-patient experience preferred. Vital Stimulation certified experience in feeding, including with infant population.

Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required.

License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas required. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA required. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Certification upon hire required.

PPMAB - Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (In-Patient only) within 60 days, required.
