Sushi Server Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sushi Server to join our team at Fortiss LLC / Parkwest Casinos. As a Sushi Server, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently deliver sushi and other menu items to guests, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor, setting the tone for a positive dining experience.
  • Play a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience, ensuring that each guest enjoys the best of our sushi and hand roll offerings.
  • Have a deep understanding of the sushi menu, including different types of sushi (nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls), ingredients, preparation methods, and accompaniments.
  • Explain our sushi bar's unique dining concept, highlighting fresh hand rolls and sushi, and have full awareness of various sushi ingredients, including types of fish, rice, seaweed, and condiments like wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger.
  • Knowledge of traditional Japanese beverages, including sake, and the ability to suggest pairings with sushi dishes enhances the customer experience. Prior experience in recommending or serving sake is a plus.
  • Ability to guide customers with allergies or dietary preferences (e.g., gluten-free, vegan) through the menu options.
  • Accurately take orders from customers, ensuring that special requests or dietary restrictions are noted. Relay these orders to the kitchen and sushi chefs.
  • Serve sushi and other dishes to customers in a timely manner, ensuring that each dish is presented attractively.
Requirements:
  • Team player with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test.
  • Must possess RBS Certification (Responsible Beverage Service).
  • Must possess a California Food Handler Card.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a setting where Japanese dining customs and etiquette are observed, such as understanding the proper way to serve sushi, present dishes, and interact with customers in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Three to five years of experience working in restaurants, preferably in establishments that focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine.
  • Knowledgeable and able to distinguish different types of sushi.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.
