Job Summary

Under the supervision of a senior staff member, this role performs routine food preparation, tray assembly, and serving duties according to established procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the sanitation of food service work areas and adhering to hospital food service operations guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble patient trays, cafeteria, and catering services with attention to quality and appearance.
  • Deliver food carts with patient meals and catering services to designated areas.
  • Collect soiled meal dishes and return them to the dish room.
  • Maintain proper stock levels in the work area, including inventory management and disposal of outdated foods.
  • Utilize effective communication skills, including telephone conversations with patients, doctors, and staff.
  • Collect and maintain written information, including logs, menus, and requisitions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50lbs, carry items weighing 25lbs or more, and push/pull carts weighing 100lbs or more.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a food service establishment, preferably in a hospital or school cafeteria setting.
  • Knowledge of hospital food service operations is a plus.
