About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Anatomic Pathology Technician to join our team at AmplifyBio. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients' toxicology, safety pharmacology, and inhalation research programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform necropsy examinations of rodents and large laboratory animals, ensuring accurate and detailed records are maintained.
  • Conduct tissue trimming for microscopic examination, data recording, and quality control reviews in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Operate various histology laboratory equipment, including microtomes and staining machines, to prepare tissue samples for examination.
  • Embed, stain, and microtome tissue samples, ensuring high-quality results and maintaining accurate records.
  • Conduct standard and non-standard tasks, working independently or under the guidance of more experienced staff, to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
  • Understand and follow relevant Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Study Protocol requirements for all laboratory activities.
  • Participate in laboratory animal handling, carcinogen use, and other specialized tasks, adhering to strict safety protocols and regulations.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of laboratory equipment and experimental procedures, applying this knowledge to perform assigned laboratory tasks effectively.
  • Read and adhere to relevant SOPs, health and safety requirements, and posted regulations to ensure compliance and a safe working environment.
  • May assist in other related areas, such as cage wash, chemistry, or off-site pathology, based on needs and skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, or a related life science, or equivalent laboratory experience of at least 2.5 years.
  • Ability to adhere to chemical agent, facility, and bio-facility safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, multitask, communicate effectively with a team and diverse individuals, and desire to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Sufficient medical fitness to perform duties in a lab setting, wearing appropriate respiratory equipment.
  • Willingness to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) environment.
  • Willingness to be immunized with licensed and FDA-approved vaccines and medications recommended for occupational exposure.
  • Flexibility to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Previous experience in pathology and/or clinical pathology laboratory settings.
  • At least 1 year's experience with animal husbandry.
