Job Summary

This position works in the Student Business Services area, performing complex financial operations, enforcing financial policies and procedures, researching and resolving discrepancies, and responding to inquiries related to student financials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of all part-time staff on the team.
  • Provide customer service in person, by phone and online to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
  • Interpret and assist others with interpreting student accounts; respond to complex inquiries related to student financials, financial policies and procedures, financial aid and third-party billing.
  • Perform daily cash count, open and close office in SIS; balance and reconcile daily business, prepare cash summaries and bank deposits.
  • Process payments for student tuition and fees, third-party vouchers, fines, facility rentals, department payments and any proceeds from campus events.
  • Review and verify refund status and payment plan status; process student account refunds.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field and two years of experience providing professional financial analysis for area of assignment.
  • An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in higher education or government organization.
  • Three (3) years of experience using online financial reporting systems such as Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Management System (FMS).
  • Five (5) years of fiscal experience related to student business services (cashiering).
  • Five (5) years of experience providing a high level of customer service.
  • Five (5) years of experience with cash handling procedures and reconciling accounts.
Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required.
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense.
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
