Permitting Coordinator

This is a dynamic opportunity within the Planning and Development Services Department where you will play a vital role in processing permits and payments. Your professional experience and exceptional customer service skills will be crucial in managing emails and serving as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Processing and issuing all permit applications in the permit tracking system, including building permits and zoning permits.
- Collecting various types of payments for fees and issuing refunds related to permitting, licensing, code enforcement, and utilities.
- Responding to customer inquiries and making decisions in accordance with applicable ordinances, regulations, and unit policies.
- Conducting research using files, databases, the internet, GIS, and maps for background materials.
- Providing timely responses to department contact center inquiries.
This role is eligible for e-work up to 2 days per week after completing six months. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About YouPermitting Coordinator I
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of clerical office experience or customer service experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with building construction inspections, permitting, planning, zoning, and/or construction knowledge.
Permitting Coordinator II
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of clerical or customer service experience.
- One year of experience involved with the interpreting, enforcing, screening, or monitoring of a regulatory process, such as permitting, planning, zoning, ordinances, licenses, building, or taxes.
- Satisfactory completion of core competencies or ability to obtain core competencies within six months of hire date.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with building construction inspections, permitting, planning, zoning, and/or construction knowledge.
- Experience with the Land Information Management System (Accela).
Permitting Coordinator I
Starting Pay Range: $18.00 - $19.00 hourly based on experience.
Permitting Coordinator II
Starting Pay Range: $19.66 - $21.00 hourly based on experience.
