ER Nurse Job Description

MBS Solutions is seeking a qualified ER Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse in the ER, you will provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and consult with other specialists as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and consults with other specialists as required.
  • Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases to assess patient needs.
  • Provides clear, concise written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently in a timely manner in EMR.
  • Summarizes assessment data and makes a nursing diagnosis and/or identifies problems which are communicated to the physician and subsequent caregivers.
  • Follows through, as needed, on information given by shift report, patient or family regarding concerns.
  • Plans care and implements plan of care for patients as required by specific care unit utilizing available resources, consulting with patient, supervisory nursing personnel, physicians, ancillary personnel, family members, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Participates in discharge plan using all available resources and identifies need for care at home or alternatives such as outpatient treatment, extended care facility, etc.
  • Performs point of care testing, including testing, documentation, and quality control with skill and accuracy.
  • Performs essential unit specific competencies related to clinical and technical aspects of patient care with skill and accuracy based on the unit specific policies and procedures.
  • Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, etc.
  • Intervenes with proper technique, procedure, and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
  • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, etc.
  • Communicates information to peers and physicians.
  • Adheres to and utilizes proper PPE standards.
  • Provides self-care/family instructions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current Pennsylvania license is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration is required.
  • Must possess effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive nursing experience including one year in a healthcare organization, is required.
  • Previous management experience is preferred.
  • Must be ACLS certified for ECC, CCU, IMSAC, TCC, or MCH areas.
  • Must maintain appropriate certification, licensure for area of expertise and management.
