The Blood Collection Specialist is responsible for acquiring and processing various specimen types from patients across all age groups, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. This role adheres to established protocols to ensure that the Laboratory technical team receives the necessary materials for accurate analysis. The day typically begins with visits to care facilities for specimen collection before proceeding to the hospital.

Core Duties:


Conducts venipuncture on patients of all ages in accordance with established guidelines to ensure optimal specimen quality for laboratory analysis.


Employs two forms of patient identification prior to specimen collection and accurately labels each specimen to uphold high standards of patient care.


Maintains proficiency in Laboratory and Hospital computer systems essential for processing patients of all ages, thereby ensuring efficient laboratory operations.


Handles specimen processing tasks, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and delivery, following established procedures to preserve the integrity of patient samples.



Engages in Laboratory quality assurance activities as necessary to uphold exceptional standards of patient care.

Ensures adequate inventory levels of departmental supplies by restocking and informing supervisors of shortages to enhance departmental efficiency and control costs.

Work Schedule:
Weekdays from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, with Saturday and Sunday shifts every third weekend. Vacation is taken every third cycle.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED is required.

Licenses and Certifications:
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician from an accredited organization is preferred upon hire.

Certification as a Medical Lab Technician is also preferred upon hire.
