Civil Engineer II
  • Team Performance Management: Evaluate and manage team performance, conduct performance reviews, and handle disciplinary actions.
  • Technical Analysis: Analyze technical reports, laws, and proposed regulations to evaluate their impact on city operations and programs.
  • Program Development: Lead meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of new operational and administrative initiatives.
  • Budgeting and Funding: Prepare proposed capital improvement and operation budgets, and prepare loan and grant applications for state- or federally-funded projects.
Assistant City Engineer
  • Engineering Leadership: Act as Engineer of Record for city projects, and assume the duties of the City Engineer in their absence.
  • Staff Supervision: Guide and supervise professional engineers, engineering technicians, and other assigned staff.
  • Project Coordination: Manage projects and engineering activities with area railroads, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Infrastructure Management: Conduct inventories of pavements, traffic operations, sanitary sewers, storm drainage, parking facilities, water utility systems, and sidewalks.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-6 years of civil engineering experience, depending on the position.
  • Licensing: Professional Engineers (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
