General Overview: The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, upkeep, and functionality of designated buildings, equipment, and grounds. This position adheres to all safety, health, and institutional regulations, creating a welcoming environment that is safe, appealing, and conducive to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deactivate security systems upon entering the facility and reactivate them upon exit.
  • Monitor temperature conditions and conduct visual inspections of key equipment areas, reporting any irregularities to the Facilities Manager.
  • Unlock building entrances as instructed.
  • Display the flag daily, weather permitting.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sanitizing restrooms, replenishing supplies, vacuuming carpets, maintaining tiled floors, dusting surfaces, collecting waste, cleaning glass, and maintaining blackboards and whiteboards.
  • Oversee the maintenance of playgrounds and related equipment.
  • Regularly inspect all areas for cleanliness and address any needs.
  • Manage the supply room and distribute materials as required.
  • Clean cafeteria tables and floors after each meal service.
  • Buff cafeteria floors bi-weekly.
  • Transport refreshments and equipment for meetings as assigned.
  • Deliver and collect supplies across campuses as directed.
  • Report early on snow days to ensure safe and clean walkways.
  • Maintain outdoor areas by picking up litter, sweeping, raking leaves, watering plants, and performing other landscaping tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with additional cleaning before and after special events, including setup and breakdown of equipment.
  • Adhere to dress code and grooming standards.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and groundskeeping tasks as needed.
  • Be available for overtime during emergencies and for special cleaning projects with appropriate notice.
  • Respond to assignments across various buildings as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Complete additional tasks as required during unusual circumstances.
  • Represent the institution positively to students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
  • Collaborate effectively with school staff and administration.

Additional Responsibilities: As assigned or needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math, writing, and communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of maintenance and custodial practices, including safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment and tools.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, custodial chemicals, and OSHA standards.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Experience:

1-2 years of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.

Work Schedule:

During the academic year: Monday - Thursday: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM; Friday: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM.

During summer and non-student periods: Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Compensation:

$12.32 per hour.
