Maintenance Assistant I

The Maintenance Assistant I position at North Medford High School is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors. As a key member of the facilities team, you will be working closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to maintain a clean and well-maintained school building.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and dust walls, furniture, and other surfaces throughout the school.
- Sweep and mop floors, including walkways, entrances, and classrooms.
- Empty trash and recyclables from classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Restock paper products, soap, and toilet paper as needed.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on school equipment and furniture.
- Assist with groundskeeping duties, including mowing grass, trimming shrubs, and shoveling snow.
- Set up P.A. system and assist with events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or senior staff members.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in custodial work preferred.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move throughout the school building for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
Salary: $38,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
