Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management and execution of the Hazardous Materials Management Program, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Act as a secondary Emergency Coordinator for the Hazardous Waste Management Facility, prepared to respond to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
  • Oversee the University Hazardous Materials Management Program, coordinating daily operations and personnel schedules in collaboration with the Hazardous Materials Program Manager. Ensure effective management of hazardous waste operations.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise personnel responsible for the collection, packaging, processing, and shipping of hazardous chemical wastes.
  • Maintain meticulous records in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Regularly review operational records to confirm compliance with permits.
  • Collect and analyze data related to waste management for reporting purposes, including conducting sampling and analysis for waste classification.
  • Provide guidance on relevant regulations and institutional policies. Monitor compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, and develop policies to enhance the management of chemical waste.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, coupled with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Hazardous Waste Management. Equivalent academic coursework may be considered in lieu of experience.
