Key Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Executing managerial duties in alignment with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of team members; organizing and directing work assignments; and addressing employee concerns and resolving issues.
  • Developing and enforcing Quality Assurance programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and guidelines within the facility.
  • Guiding the Quality Supervisor in product testing across various quality metrics, including microbiological, physical, and chemical properties.
  • Conducting audits of sanitation and operational practices to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports to confirm adherence to quality benchmarks or identify deviations.
  • Suggesting improvements to current quality or production standards to optimize output while considering equipment capabilities.
  • Monitoring pest control initiatives in collaboration with licensed external agencies.
  • Implementing specifications for raw materials, in-process items, and finished products.
  • Facilitating Quality Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training sessions.
  • Updating and maintaining procedural documentation for the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Managing a team of up to 10 non-exempt employees within the Quality department.
  • Addressing all quality-related concerns with co-packers.
  • Assisting in capability assessments of machinery and existing processes.
  • Coordinating responses to customer feedback through the consumer affairs team.
  • Overseeing data management activities, including file maintenance and report generation.
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP and sanitation standards, preparing for regulatory and customer inspections.
  • Maintaining the plant's Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards.
  • Reviewing organic and Kosher certification processes and guidelines.
  • Designing and supervising experiments and tests within the plant.
  • Complying with all safety and GMP protocols.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in Quality Assurance.
  • At least five years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • A minimum of three years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and HACCP is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform mathematical operations relevant to quality analysis.
  • The capability to prioritize tasks and respond to business needs effectively.
  • A sense of urgency in completing tasks.
  • Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Excel and Word, along with ERP systems and statistical databases.
