Position Summary:
The Novelis Lincolnshire Manufacturing Facility is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician for our night shift operations.


The Mechanical Technician will be tasked with the installation, repair, and upkeep of mechanical systems associated with coil processing production machinery. This role demands proficiency in diagnosing issues, executing repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance assessments.

As a valued team member, you can anticipate:

Competitive compensation - Our Mechanical Technicians commence at $35.33 per hour.

Employees are entitled to premium pay (time and one-half) for hours worked on weekends and receive additional compensation for evening shifts.

Incentive program – Employees qualify for a Productivity Incentive Program

after completing 90 days of employment. This program is disbursed monthly with a maximum payout of 5%.

Benefits – We provide a robust benefits package that includes paid time off and holidays. Employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage starting on their hire date.

New hires can immediately enroll in the 401(k) plan, which includes a Company match of up to 2.5%; additional Employer contributions of 4% are available after one year of service.


Key Responsibilities:


Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, remove, replace, repair, and perform mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance, lubrication, repair, and adjustment of coil processing machinery.

Conduct mechanical repairs on industrial drive systems including gearboxes, gear trains, sprockets, chains, belts, and pulleys; replace bearings as necessary.

Identify and execute machine adjustments across various manufacturing systems, operational interlocks, sensors, and energy system isolations.

Maintain certifications for calibrated equipment, upkeep maintenance records, machine history, and all relevant documentation for production machinery.

Provide technical and mechanical recommendations to enhance efficiency, reusability, and longevity of equipment.

Collaborate continuously with other departments to assess and refine technical solutions and strategies.

Document and communicate maintenance and repair activities as well as any irregularities.

Test machinery to ensure compliance with production and quality standards.

Adhere to safety protocols, cleanliness, and established regulations.

Guide production personnel in routine preventive maintenance practices.

Manage, monitor, and control spare parts and tools.

Perform pipe fitting, welding, and brazing tasks.

Comply with all safety procedures such as rigging methods, lockout/tagout, confined space entry permit procedures, etc., and utilize all personal protective equipment and safety devices. Ensure all safety guards are replaced and housekeeping is restored following repairs.

Qualifications:


Must exemplify leadership in safety and be a conscientious worker who prioritizes personal and team safety.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Basic computer literacy and skills.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Ability to interpret drawings and sketches. Must show understanding of engineering specifications and technical manuals.

Knowledge and hands-on experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pipe fitting, pumps, power transmission, preventive maintenance programs, welding, lubrication, and rigging.

Familiarity with bearing installation, lubrication, alignment, and failure analysis.

Willingness to engage in training and enhance knowledge and skills.

An Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or a related field is preferred, along with three to five years of industrial experience.

Facility Overview:


The Lincolnshire finishing mill, established in 1966, specializes in cold rolling aluminum to achieve desired gauges, annealing to temper levels, and slitting the rolled sheets to specified sizes.

The facility employs approximately 100 individuals and produces mill finish coil for the building, construction, and transportation sectors. Lincolnshire is dedicated to community engagement through ongoing volunteer initiatives with various local organizations.
