About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Water Resources Planner to join our team at American Water. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for our water and wastewater systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive water and wastewater system planning studies to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize system performance.
  • Develop and maintain asset investment plans and strategic capital expenditure plans to ensure alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Analyze system capacity and evaluate source, production, distribution, storage, and other system deficiencies to support ongoing operations and service extension requests.
  • Provide technical expertise on water and wastewater system planning matters, including capital planning, source water safe yield analysis, and computerized hydraulic modeling.
  • Present results of engineering analysis to stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Environmental or Civil preferred) with 4+ years of experience in water resources engineering and/or planning.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
