Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, comprehensive, and compassionate clinical care to pediatric patients.
    •Conduct thorough patient assessments, analyze data, and order necessary diagnostic tests and treatments, while evaluating clinical outcomes.
    •Collaborate with interprofessional team members to develop and implement effective care plans.
    •Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribe medications and complex treatment regimens, monitoring for both desired and adverse effects, particularly in high-risk pediatric populations.
    •Utilize evidence-based practices relevant to neonatal and pediatric care.
    •Continuously assess the interplay between access, cost, quality, and safety, and their impact on healthcare outcomes.
    •Take a leadership role in establishing and upholding standards of practice, enhancing patient care through knowledge sharing and program development.
    •Consider the developmental needs of children and the resources available to families when providing health education and support.
    •Maintain compliance with internal and external regulations governing advanced practice provider practice, licensure, and billing.
    •Keep accurate records of procedures performed and demonstrate proficiency in specialty skills.
    •Advocate for the needs of children and their families throughout the healthcare continuum, ensuring optimal patient and family experiences.
  • Regular attendance is essential to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Meet the physical demands as outlined in the Physical Requirements section.
Educational Requirements
  • Must possess education credentials as mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services, specifically APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska.

Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in pediatric or neonatal settings is preferred.

Skills and Competencies
  • Meet all criteria outlined in the Medical Staff Policy for Allied Health Professionals to achieve credentialing.
  • Maintain a practice agreement with the specialty service and operate within the defined scope of practice.
  • Knowledgeable in billing regulations, including documentation and CPT coding requirements.
  • Understanding of the physical, mental, developmental, emotional, and social needs of pediatric patients across various age groups.
  • Stay current in the field through professional development activities such as reading relevant literature and attending conferences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented, capable of working with minimal supervision.

Licensure and Certifications
  • Must hold a current and valid unrestricted Nebraska state licensure (e.g., APRN, PA, RN).
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 180 days.
  • DEA License - Maintain an active Federal DEA license within 30 days.
  • PNP-BC - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification is required.
  • CPNP-AC - Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (PICU, CCU, Neonatology) certification is required.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 1 year (NICU and Neonatology only).
  • ACLS (CCU only) certification must be obtained within 180 days.
  • Fulfill all criteria outlined in the Medical Staff Policy for Allied Health Professionals to achieve credentialing.
