  • Implement all nutrition and food package policies and procedures in the Wisconsin WIC Operations Manual.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate WIC Nutrition staff, including the WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator.
  • Monitor WIC Nutrition staff's counseling and documentation skills and ensure nutrition assessments are completed according to WIC policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Provide oversight to all nutrition-related activities in the WIC clinic to ensure they are culturally appropriate, participant-centered, and follow current, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Serve as a preceptor for dietetic and dietetic technician students and interns or oversee precepting activities assigned to appropriate WIC Nutritionist.
  • In collaboration with the WIC Director, ensure required annual training is provided to all WIC staff.
  • Maintain documentation of Nutrition and Breastfeeding staff's continuing education requirements.
  • Collaborate with external programs to enhance services and resources for WIC participants.
  • Participate fully in the WIC Management Evaluation, including pre-visit preparation and responding to findings. Analyze and evaluate results of Management Evaluations.
  • Attend required agency and WIC-sponsored state and regional meetings as appropriate and incorporate information learned into WIC project services.
  • Reside on WIC and/or SSCHC committees and workgroups as appropriate.
  • Facilitate nutrition and breastfeeding staff meetings.
  • Promote program integrity by assisting the WIC Director with program fraud and abuse prevention.
  • Complete certifications, mid-certifications, and nutrition education in order to keep abreast of participant needs, WIC policies and procedures, and to ensure adequate service coverage at all times.
  • Perform hemoglobin and blood lead testing as well as participant weighing and measuring in order to keep abreast of policies and procedures and to ensure adequate service coverage at all times.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and modification of nutrition and health education materials, media messaging, lesson plans, classes, and nutrition staff continuing education per State WIC policies.
  • Analyze ROSIE reports and other available data to coordinate nutrition services, plans, and policies.
  • In conjunction with the WIC Director, provide support/maintenance of clinic equipment.
  • Investigate participant complaints and address accordingly.

  • Registered Dietitian and must maintain RD credential during time of employment.
  • Minimum of one year working within WIC, additional maternal or child nutrition experience desirable.
  • Coursework in program management, public health, and nutrition preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid Driver's License at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.
