Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and skilled Full-Time Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team. This role is essential in providing quality education and support to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine students' visual and functional capabilities.
- Deliver instruction in Braille, assistive technologies, orientation and mobility, and essential daily living skills.
- Modify classroom resources and settings to ensure accessibility for all students.
- Collaborate with educational staff, administrators, and specialists to create and execute individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide mentorship and encouragement to students, fostering independence and self-advocacy.
- Engage with parents and community partners to build strong support networks.
- Stay informed on best practices and legal standards concerning visual impairments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related discipline.
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Proficiency in Braille and familiarity with assistive technology.
