Job Summary

At Monument Health, we are committed to providing compassionate patient-focused care. As an Occupational Therapist, you will be valued as an essential team member, working in the outpatient services area to provide evaluation and direct patient care to individuals of all ages. Your goal will be to maximize their function and independence, with appropriate documentation of that care. You will also carry out operational duties for the Rehab Services department as indicated. Our occupational therapy services are also provided at outreach sites in communities around the area, where you will play an active role in providing care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use critical thinking and judgment in the provision of care, performing all aspects of treatment based on accepted national, departmental, and evidence-based standards.
  • Document in a timely, accurate manner, which supports medical necessity in accordance with department standards.
  • Submit required paperwork for billing, accurate charges, and authorizations, demonstrating appropriate use of time management according to departmental productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative in individual professional development, completing all education required by the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification in a timely manner.
  • Provide supervision according to state, federal, and professional association standards.
  • Incorporate and educate patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, goal setting, and discharge planning as appropriate.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements as it pertains to insurance, accrediting bodies, national, and state regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Certification - Occupational Therapist (OT) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.

Physical Requirements

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
