Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Nutrition Services Associate to join our team at Independent School District 196. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students by providing high-quality food and nutrition services.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with food service manager's instructions on production, preparation, and service of food.
  • Account for meals (reimbursement and ala carte sales) in accordance with department standards.
  • Participate in clean-up of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom as directed by the food service manager.
  • Ensure safety in handling, preparation, storing, and serving food.
  • Process students through breakfast and lunch lines using computerized point of sale equipment.
  • Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Attend job-related training classes and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Interact with students in a positive and professional manner.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds and stand on a hard surface for 3-6 hours.
  • Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school foodservice is preferred.
  • Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% accuracy or higher within 1 year of hire date.
  • Previous knowledge of point of sale experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.
