Position Overview:
The Heavy Civil Construction Supervisor is responsible for executing construction projects by effectively planning, organizing, and overseeing operations; conducting quality inspections; and managing subcontractors and team members. This role reports directly to the Project Manager and supervises the crew to ensure project completion is safe and timely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold a safe and healthy work environment.
- Understand and implement supervisor's directives while providing clear guidance to the crew.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors regarding job status and assigned tasks.
- Ensure the job site is clean and free from hazards and unnecessary obstacles.
- Engage in the Performance and Development Review process, aligning with performance standards.
- Uphold the company's values in all work activities.
- Contribute positively to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the superintendent or Project Manager.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements to avoid legal challenges.
- Proficient in operating company tools and equipment.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Strong team player with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Competent computer skills.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Foreman or Crew Supervisor in a related field, particularly in carpentry projects.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary for operating company vehicles.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work at heights.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds unassisted.
- Capability to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to perform tasks while wearing personal protective equipment, including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, respirators, safety harnesses, and hard hats.
- Position may require backfilling for the Superintendent and availability for overtime during the week and on weekends.
