UPMC Horizon is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Labor and Delivery Team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain aseptic environments for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures, passing instruments, sponges, and sutures as needed.
- Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and safely.
- Assist with patient preparation, including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, positioning them on the operating table, and covering them with sterile surgical drapes.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to safety protocols and aseptic technique.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC) within 6 months of program completion.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
