Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to our nation's veterans.
Key Responsibilities- Manage patient care problems and deviations using self-direction in accordance with VA Nursing Practice and LPN licensure standards.
- Assess, record, and report vital signs, neurological signs, weight, and blood glucose levels.
- Check patients into the clinic, interview patient and/or significant other, and document intake data as per policy.
- Perform telehealth services, store and forward, clinical video teleconference, video connect, tele performance, and other telehealth services as identified.
- Serve as a Tele-presenter coordinates Telehealth services and is part of the clinic team.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures following a sequence of steps approved for sample collection.
- Follow the Laboratory procedures for collecting specimens in the appropriate container, maintains specimen under appropriate conditions, follows guidelines for collecting timed specimens at the appropriate times to insure specimen viability.
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to promptly recognize and effectively intervene in potentially urgent or emergent situations.
- Maintain and implement knowledge of anatomy and physiology as well as scientific principles underlying nursing care and procedures.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- Licensure: Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia.
- English Language Proficiency: Licensed practical or vocational nurses appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in both spoken and written English.
The LPN will work in a fast-paced clinical setting, providing patient care to a diverse population of veterans. The LPN will be required to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment, and work in a team environment.
