Patient Advocate

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Representative to join our team at Ashtabula County Medical Center. As a Patient Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring a positive patient experience from the moment they arrive at our hospital.

• Provide Excellent Patient Care: Ensure that patients receive accurate and timely information about their medical treatment, insurance benefits, and financial obligations.
• Verify Patient Information: Conduct thorough interviews to verify patient demographics, medical history, and insurance coverage.
• Manage Patient Records: Accurately enter patient data into our electronic health record system, ensuring that all necessary information is up-to-date and secure.
• Communicate with Insurance Companies: Effectively communicate with insurance providers to obtain authorization and coverage for patient treatments.
• Collect Co-Pays and Deductibles: Collect patient payments in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all patient interactions and data entry are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.

• Education and Experience: High school diploma required; college or business school education desired. Two years of customer service experience dealing with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal persuasion and communication skills, medical terminology knowledge, and basic PC software application skills.
• Licensure and Certification: None required.
• Physical and Environmental Demands: Primarily seated at a desk, with occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents or use equipment.
