This unit is a 25-bed facility specializing in Neurosurgery, Trauma, and Orthopedics, catering to inpatients and short-term observation patients.
This unit plays a crucial role in the Level 1 Trauma program and has received The Blue Distinction for excellence in care for total hip and total knee replacements.

Responsibilities:
All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
Applications are accepted year-round for four main cohorts. Your cohort will depend on your start date, which is influenced by licensure, onboarding, unit availability, and personal preference.

Responsibilities:
Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act.
Provides nursing care for patients and families while maintaining a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses and the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other caregivers.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Newly licensed nurse within the last 6 months. Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment. Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work. Proficient in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking fluent English.
