POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers comprehensive physical therapy services to a designated patient population, aiding them in achieving optimal physical autonomy. Conducts thorough physical therapy assessments, applies therapeutic modalities, and implements treatment plans aimed at restoring functionality, alleviating discomfort, and preventing disability due to illness or injury. Provides care across all age demographics, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Oversees the treatment provided by physical therapist assistants and may offer orientation and ongoing support to assigned personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with a BS, MS, or DPT. Ongoing continuing education units (CEUs) must be maintained as mandated by state regulations. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU setting is required.

EXPERIENCE:

No prior experience is necessary.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Must possess a current Physical Therapist License in Georgia or hold current compact privileges in Georgia. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of relevant experience is preferred.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers high-quality physical therapy services to patients of all ages, ensuring excellence in patient care and functionality restoration.

Maintains comprehensive patient records, including evaluations, care plans, and progress notes, documenting patient responses to treatment and educational interventions. Utilizes objective data with clarity and precision in documentation.


  • Engages in quality measurement and outcome assessment.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation team members to formulate patient care strategies, including therapeutic adjustments and discharge planning.
  • Ensures active and supportive communication with patients and relevant parties regarding progress, challenges, home programs, and other therapeutic concerns.
  • Delegates treatment plans and responsibilities to support staff according to their skill and competency levels.

Possesses strong instructional capabilities and knowledge of educational methodologies. Demonstrates leadership qualities in critical thinking.

Must effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with healthcare colleagues, patients, families, and physicians.

Requires emotional resilience to manage a variety of high-pressure situations, including emergency responses to patient incidents.

Exhibits tact, discretion, and diplomacy while working collaboratively with others.
Ability to evaluate and interpret information independently and make informed decisions.
Must possess sensory skills to recognize clinical signs and symptoms.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.

Capable of organizing work, delegating effectively, and supervising the activities of assistants, technicians, and other healthcare providers.
