Job Title: Registered Nurse Med Surg PT WEP Days

Trinity Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will plan and provide professional nursing care to patients from admission to discharge. This includes assessing, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, as well as coordinating care with other disciplines and collaborating with physicians on behalf of the patient.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient's care plan in coordination with the physician.
  • Provide patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.
  • Supervise healthcare members, including patient care technicians and support assistants, with patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use, including IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices, and utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms to maximize patient safety.
  • Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Initiate emergency support measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and protecting patients from injury.
  • Take assigned call as defined in unit policy.
  • Adhere to standards of care for respective nursing units and utilize the nursing process.
  • Demonstrate nursing knowledge and judgment concerning patient care delivery.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa and a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing. Nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred. The candidate must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English and operate a computer efficiently. Additionally, the candidate must possess knowledge and understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation processes of patient groups.
