The Detroit Medical Center is in search of a dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team. As a vital member of our healthcare community, you will play a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures by assisting surgeons and ensuring a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist as a first or second assistant during various surgical operations, including positioning patients, preparing surgical sites, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Prepare, select, and assemble surgical instruments and supplies as per the requirements of the surgical procedure.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and physician assistants to communicate surgical techniques and care protocols.
  • Utilize manual dexterity and mechanical skills to aid surgeons in complex surgical techniques.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to any changes during surgical procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited surgical assistant program recognized by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) or the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA).
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as science or nursing is preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience in a surgical setting.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and medical staff.
