The Position:
Cognizant is looking to recruit a Wireless Solutions Architect for our IoT Division.

The IoT Division offers best practices and standards for Product Engineering, encompassing deployment, management, and operational support across the communications, media, and technology sectors.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience. This role presents an excellent opportunity for career advancement within this growing global team.

Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in the development of WiFi Access Points (6E/7)
  • In-depth knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies including WiFi6E and WiFi7, along with familiarity with industry standards and organizations such as WBA and WFA.
  • Proficient in Linux, with experience in configuring, customizing, and building Linux distributions (RDK-B or OpenWRT)
  • Strong programming expertise in C and C++
  • Comprehensive understanding of Wi-Fi protocols and proficiency in spectrum analysis and packet capture.
  • Experience with broadband products, including CPE RDKB devices, DOCSIS, and Cable Modem standards.
  • Familiarity with the Linux kernel, as RDK-B / OpenWRT often requires kernel-level modifications, including configuration, device drivers, and kernel modules.
  • Ability to investigate and validate hardware compliance with various protocols and features.
  • Analyze RF propagation, interference, and noise, with a solid understanding of Wi-Fi authentication protocols (WPA2/WPA3/802.1X with EAP-TLS/PEAP).
  • Lead the design and development of software architecture, defining the structure and components of complex systems.
  • Experience with testing equipment such as Octoscope, Candela, or Veriwave.
  • Proficient in version control systems like Git for managing code repositories and collaborating with other developers.
  • Scripting skills in shell languages such as Python, TCL, or Bash for automation and scripting tasks.
  • Familiarity with web-based user interfaces and web server technologies, as RDK-B / OpenWRT often includes web interfaces for configuration.
  • Evaluate hardware performance under various conditions (e.g., different data rates, channel widths, and modulation schemes).
  • Proficient in debugging tools and techniques, as embedded systems can present unique troubleshooting challenges.
  • Experience in building DevOps pipelines and automation qualifications.
  • Active participation in the RDK-B community and an understanding of its development processes and culture.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and software requirements as RDK-B/OpenWRT and the networking landscape change.
  • Understanding of wireless technologies, primarily Wi-Fi, and its interfaces.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and other relevant protocols for networking devices.
  • Awareness of security best practices, as network devices must be secure, including knowledge of encryption, authentication, and network security.
  • Understanding of wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi, and how to configure wireless interfaces in RDK-B / OpenWRT.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements aligned with industry evolution.
  • Present and defend architectural, design, and technical decisions to both internal and external stakeholders.
