Position Summary:
This role is crucial in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a secure and healthy workplace that adheres to all relevant regulations regarding health, safety, and environmental stewardship. The position is integral to ensuring that safety goals are met across the site, within a manufacturing context.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with management and safety teams to promote a culture of safety.
2. Assess workplace conditions focusing on ergonomics and compliance with safety regulations.
3. Conduct audits and investigations into incidents and analyze trends to improve safety practices.
4. Engage in cross-functional teams to address environmental health and safety (EHS) challenges and approve new processes or equipment.
5. Provide guidance on EHS initiatives and support workers' compensation processes.
6. Develop and refine safe chemical handling practices and maintain compliance with safety procedures.
7. Oversee hazardous waste management and ensure proper training on regulatory compliance.
8. Conduct inspections and audits to ensure adherence to EHS policies and regulations.
9. Maintain environmental permits and ensure compliance with local and regional laws.
10. Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct safety drills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field is preferred.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in EHS or a combination of education and training.
- Strong understanding of local, regional, and international regulations regarding environmental and safety management.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead training sessions and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with safety management systems.
