Position Overview:
The Ice Operations Facility Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Operations and will play a pivotal role in the administration, strategic planning, budgeting, and oversight of the facility's operations. This includes technical services, facility conversion, custodial management, and equipment inventory oversight.

The manager will ensure an efficient and cost-effective program by managing the operations budget and fulfilling related daily responsibilities as necessary.


This role encompasses the coordination of all aspects of facility operations, including budgeting, procurement, and the management of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, custodial, grounds, sound, lighting, audio/visual systems, telecommunications, security, smoke/fire detection systems, and traffic management.

The manager will also serve as the facility's safety chairman, ensuring a secure environment for both the public and staff.

Compensation:
This position offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000, in addition to performance bonuses.

Assist the operations leadership in the comprehensive daily management and upkeep of the facilities.

Plan, direct, coordinate, and assess the workflow for all event transitions; engage with staff to identify and resolve issues; assign work tasks, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; evaluate work outputs, methods, and procedures;


Select, train, motivate, and assess staff performance; provide or coordinate training for staff; collaborate with employees to address performance gaps; implement disciplinary actions and termination processes as needed.


Oversee and evaluate the work plan for facility maintenance and operations; engage with staff to identify and resolve issues; assign work tasks, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; evaluate work outputs, methods, and procedures.

Coordinate labor hours for staff and temporary personnel.


Participate in the development and management of the operations budget; forecast additional funding requirements for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and authorize expenditures; implement necessary adjustments.

Coordinate facility arrangements and oversee contractor work, including equipment rental and borrowing municipal equipment. Report any issues to senior operations leadership promptly.

Ensure staff operates safely and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Conduct monthly safety meetings.

Order maintenance supplies and materials within budget constraints; receive and manage inventory.


Maintain a hazardous materials communication program, safety data sheets, and required records and permits; stay informed of changes in relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

Develop and uphold an accurate record-keeping system, including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.

Possess experience and knowledge of tractors, skid steers, arena grooming equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, electrical systems, refrigeration, and plumbing.

Essential Ice Operations Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage daily ice operations at Acrisure Arena.

Install an NHL-quality ice surface.

Conduct ice recoveries, removals, maintenance, and preparations for event transitions.

Assist in the planning and setup of third-party ice shows.

Schedule AHL game day staff, including ice crew and shovelers.

Coordinate drivers for the ice facility.


Collaborate with team officials and NHL representatives to ensure optimal ice conditions.

Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of hockey-related equipment.

Maintain Zambonis and associated systems, including fast ice, ice levelers, and Zamboni connections.

Support the maintenance of the ice plant, jet ice water treatment, and rain-to-rink systems.

Install and maintain dasher advertisements throughout the season.

Act as a liaison to AHL officials, AHL operations, and Acrisure Arena operations staff.

Assist with facility transitions as required.

Manage special projects as assigned.

3-5 years of experience in a venue hosting AHL or NHL events.

A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.

Experience in an operations department at a facility of similar size and operations.

Familiarity with AHL or NHL quality ice rinks.

Ability to adapt and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and convey new ideas and concepts.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, resourceful, quick learner, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional experience in leading, motivating, and developing team members.

A high degree of personal integrity and a commitment to prioritizing the organization's interests.

Must be an effective communicator and collaborator across the organization.


A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) is preferred; a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.


Familiarity with OSHA regulations is essential. Strong interpersonal skills are required, including excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Self-motivated and directed with exceptional planning abilities.
