POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facility Maintenance Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Housekeeping Supervisor to uphold the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility's environment. This includes maintaining floors, walls, windows, and other related areas to ensure a hygienic setting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
License: Not required.
Experience: Previous janitorial experience in a long-term care or institutional environment is preferred.
Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical information, along with effective verbal communication skills in English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional communication and customer service skills are essential, along with a compassionate approach to interactions with others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform vacuuming and carpet cleaning according to established procedures and schedules.
- Dust, mop, wax, and polish floors as per routine and deep cleaning schedules.
- Wash windows regularly to maintain a clear and clean appearance.
- Clean lighting fixtures routinely to ensure proper illumination.
- Sanitize wheelchairs, shower chairs, and other equipment as per the cleaning schedule.
- Empty and replace liners in waste containers, ensuring proper disposal of contents.
- Maintain cleanliness in the dumpster area and ensure lids are closed.
- Keep all building entrances clean on a daily basis.
- Regularly clean janitor closets and equipment.
- Secure cleaning chemicals and janitorial supplies in designated areas.
- Report any maintenance needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor promptly.
- Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures of the facility.
- Exhibit courteous and cooperative behavior in all communications with staff, residents, and visitors.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Participate in required in-service education and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate respect for the rights and dignity of all residents in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding resident and facility information.
- Exhibit honesty and integrity in the care and use of facility property.
- Present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Follow directions and complete assigned responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrate reliability and dependability in all tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
