The UPMC Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist to join our team as a Women\u0027s Health Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pelvic health and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
The Physical Therapist will be responsible for providing advanced training in examination, clinical decision-making, and manual therapy techniques to practicing therapists. The program runs for 16 consecutive months and places an emphasis on utilizing research and literature to maintain practice within the scope of evidence-based physical therapy.
The Physical Therapist will work closely with our team of experts to advance the competent physical therapist through education, research, and professional service into a board-certified clinical specialist in the area of women\u0027s/pelvic health physical therapy.
The resident will participate in a planned curriculum specific to the Women\u0027s Health Residency Program, including pelvic floor, antepartum/postpartum, lymphedema, biofeedback, GI dysfunction, oncology, bone health, RED-S, and Caring for the LGBTQIA+ Patient.
The Physical Therapist will also be enrolled in part of the Advanced Clinical Practice – Musculoskeletal Sequence, sponsored by the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute. This program is designed to promote advanced clinical decision making and manual therapy skills related to the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment, and treatment and supervises physical therapist assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic.
- Develops plan of care including goals and treatment plan in accordance with physician referral, nature of injury/illness, and results of physical therapy assessment.
- Modifies or adjusts plan of care based on patient\u0027s response to treatment and/or changes in patient\u0027s status.
- Maintains written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered, including documentation of initial assessment, follow-up visits, and discharge summary consistent with department standards.
- Co-signs physical therapist assistant documentation biweekly.
- Provides verbal and/or written home instructions to patient and/or family members when applicable.
- Communicates patient\u0027s status to the referring physician and other healthcare team members.
- Schedules patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring delivery of quality patient care.
- Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Physical Therapist.
- Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal.
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance.
- Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
